Codebreaking – Eastcote to GCHQ
Friday, February 1, 2019 @ 10:30 am
There will be a talk on ‘Codebreaking -Eastcote to GCHQ’ by Ronald Koorm FRICS, a retired chartered surveyor.
This will be the first Microsoft Powerpoint projected talk on this subject in the area, with several maps and illustrations, showing the development of the Outstation at Eastcote and other bases, during WW2 to aid Bletchley Park in codebreaking. There will also be mention of post-war activities at Eastcote when it became GCHQ. Some of the information has been verified with Bletchley Park, The National Archives, and other sources.
The library at Manor Farm (i.e. near the duckpond), should be contacted for booking to ensure a seat (Tel 01895-558234). The event commences at 10.30 am and is planned to last one hour, plus time for questions. The presenter will later this year, also be speaking at the Battle of Britain Bunker in Uxbridge, as part of the forthcoming D-Day 75 years anniversary, on a special talk prepared for that site.
